The “Belt and Road” policy implemented by China has brought positive changes to China’s foreign trade, mainly reflected in the following aspects:

First of all, the “Belt and Road” policy has promoted the trade between China and co-construction countries, and the scale of trade has been continuously expanded and the structure has been continuously optimized. According to the latest data, China’s imports and exports to countries jointly built under the Belt and Road Initiative account for more than 40% of China’s total imports and exports.

Secondly, the “Belt and Road” policy has promoted the development of China’s foreign trade enterprises and created more new opportunities for economic and trade cooperation for enterprises. In Xiamen, Fujian province, 22 new Silk Road shipping routes have been added this year, and now 116 routes connect 131 ports in 43 countries and regions. At Xi ‘an International Port Station in Shaanxi Province, there is an average of one China-Europe train departing or arriving every 1 hour and 40 minutes every day, and 17 China-Europe international trunk trains operate regularly.

In addition, the “Belt and Road” policy has strengthened the industrial chain and supply chain cooperation between China and co-built countries, making it easier for foreign trade enterprises to enter these markets, thus promoting the development of foreign trade. In the first eight months of this year, China’s imports and exports to 152 countries jointly built under the Belt and Road Initiative reached 12.62 trillion yuan, up 3.6 percent year on year, accounting for 46.6 percent of China’s foreign trade.

To sum up, the “Belt and Road” policy has brought positive changes to China’s foreign trade, promoted trade exchanges and economic cooperation between China and co-built countries, and created more opportunities and platforms for the development of Chinese foreign trade enterprises.
